My Review:

smoothie king pumpkin spice

Much like 99.99% of the population, I love to consume everything pumpkin in the fall.  Pumpkin-flavored coffee, tea, waffles, cereal bars – you name it and I’ve tried it.

Most items try to pass off a fake pumpkin flavor, using a combination of cinnamon, nutmeg and clove. So I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Smoothie King uses all natural pumpkin spiced puree in their limited edition Pumpkin Spice smoothies.

I ordered a medium (32 ounces) with Chobani greek yogurt to up the protein. It was so yummy! The 32 ounces of goodness, lasted 2 days, which was great! 1 smoothie = 2 meals. Not bad for $10.

I wish Pumpkin Spice wasn’t a limited edition flavor because I would get it all year round.

When I heard that Suave® Professionals are helping women spoil themselves by bringing the spa experience and spa-quality products to the home, I was intrigued. I love getting pampered but nowadays, a trip to the spa can set you back a few hundred dollars. It’s a luxury that not many women can afford.

Enter Suave® Professionals premium Body Care line – with a range of fabulously affordable products, including:

Moroccan Infusion Body Wash
Natural Infusion Awapuhi Ginger Body Wash
Moroccan Infusion Body Lotion
Moroccan Infusion Dry Body Oil Spray

Suave® Professionals Moroccan Infusion Body Wash and Body Lotion are infused with Moroccan argan oil. The body wash smells fantastic, but I thought that the body lotion and oil were too fragrant. The musky essence is just too overpowering in lotion form, but wasn’t quite as potent as a body wash.

Suave® Professionals Natural Infusion Awapuhi Ginger Body Wash is infused with Awapuhi Ginger and Honeysuckle and has a sweet and fruity fragrance. This one was my favorite! Not only does it smell divine, but it also felt silky and left my skin totally soft.

Awapuhi Ginger Body Wash is my new obsession and can be quite versatile. You can use it to make a body scrub, which sounds awesome! Suave kindly provided the #SuaveSpaSecrets DIY Body Scrub Recipe which looks totally fun to make. I would add coconut oil to the mix for an extra skin-softening boost.

An amazing thing about the Suave® Professionals premium Body Care line is the price! I found the products at Walmart for $2.47 and with a $1.50 off coupon found in the Sunday paper, the final price was just .97 cents! A total steal!

Hair Cut & Style How-to: Kristen Stewart

Kristen Stewart

Celebrity hairstylist Giannandrea worked with Kristen Stewart for the premiere of “Camp X-Ray” in New York, NY. He kindly shared details on Kristen’s gorgeous new haircut and style.

What was the inspiration for this cut?

“I wanted to give Kristen a chic and effortlessly stylish new cut, something to perfectly reflect her personality.  The proportions are extremely important with a short haircut.  I wanted to preserve the femininity while still bringing an edge to the look, and using a combination of thinning shears and a razor allowed me to achieve this balance.  And of course, we wanted to have fun with it!”

Can you walk us through the process?

“I began by chopping away the back and the sides of the hair with a pair of thinning shears to help create a steep layered grading and proceeded to razor cut the whole top to give Kristen her edgy, long pointed ends. This cutting technique is playful and softly shapes the neck and cheekbones.

After cutting, I applied Macadamia Professional Foaming Volumizer all over the roots to create a thick base texture.  I blow-dried her hair with my hands to lift the roots and directed the front base roots forward without loosing the base volume. After drying hair, I used Macadamia Professional Control Working Spray and sectioned her hair into small and medium sections and used an infrared flat iron on ends.

Lastly, I took a dime-sized amount of Macadamia Professional Whipped Detailing Cream and using my fingers, created a deep side zigzag part to swoop over and then twisted each section to finesse the texture.”

How to Fake a Tan in 3 Easy Steps

fake tan

On last week’s episode of “Project Runway,” the designers were challenged to create a New York Fashion Week street look. Mary Kay Global Makeup Artist Luis Casco created a great faux tan makeup look to perfectly complement one of the winning fashion designs.

The faux tan look is universally flattering for all seasons and women of all skin tones. Follow Luis’ three simple steps to keep you glowing year-round!

For a natural faux tan look, the key is to apply the perfect combination of blush and bronzer.

1. Blush

Use brush to apply blush on cheeks and any areas the sun would naturally hit.

Luis’ insider tip: “My little secret is to use a blush with some pink in it.” Luis’ favorite blush color is Mary Kay Mineral Cheek Color in Shy Blush.

2. Bronzer

Choose a bronzer with a matte and shimmery effect like Mary Kay Bronzing Powder.

Apply bronzing powder right over blush to get the famous “J. Lo glow.” Also apply to the neck area.

Keep the look blended and natural by using a high-quality brush for application. Gradually layer on bronzer to get a gorgeous sun-kissed glow.

3. Finishing Touch

Set the glowing look with Mary Kay Translucent Powder. Apply to any areas prone to oiliness like the T-zone and all over the face to set makeup.

The Do’s and Don’ts of Washing Your Hair

scalpThe health of your scalp determines how fast your hair grows. Heavy build-up on the scalp due to overactive sebum, excessive product usage and dryness can lead to blocked follicles and  when left untreated, the scalp can become irritated, itchy and inhibit hair growth.

To ensure a clean, flake-free and healthy head, cleanse and condition properly and follow HairMax’s do’s and don’ts, from their Healthy Hair Growth Guide:

Do start by rinsing your hair with warm water for about three minutes. The extra rinsing time will loosen up product residue, allowing you to use less shampoo.

Don’t comb your hair while shampooing. The stretching and pulling creates unnecessary stress on strands. Instead, save detangling for when the conditioner is in.

Don’t pile hair on top of your head while shampooing, but instead apply the shampoo by smoothing it in a downward motion.

Don’t rough up your hair while drying.  Rather, gently squeeze out the water with a towel.
