With holiday parties in full swing it makes you wonder is it possible to celebrate the season without packing on the pounds? I asked Amand Foti, Senior RD of Selvera Wellness, for 3 eating methods to incorporate for the rest of the month which will ensure a healthy and happy holiday season. Here are her tips:

  1. Cut down your portions. Most of us grab well over a recommended serving size. Consistently eating a bit more than you should can add up quickly. It only takes a couple hundred extra calories a day to gain weight.
  1. Drink water! Dehydration can cause unwanted food cravings, decrease metabolism, and even affect our energy levels. Drink at least 48-64 oz. a day! Try herbal tea on the colder days to mix it up a bit.
  1. Make sure you have a protein source, like eggs, greek yogurt, beans, chicken, fish, and nuts, and a fiber source, mostly fruits, vegetables and whole grains at every meal. This will help keep you full and keep your metabolism up. Remember to eat something every 3-4 hours whether it’s a meal or snack.
